Mary L. Farris - 1920-2009
Mary L. Farris, died July 29, 2009, in Boyd Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 25, 1920, a daughter of the late Rev. Roy T. and Lydia Whitehouse Wilson.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owens Robertson Farris; sons, David R. Farris and Gregory R. Farris; sisters, Ruth Wilson and Martha Cline; and brother, Paul Wilson.
Surviving are a son, Donald (Bobbie) Farris of Ashland, Ky.; six grandchildren, James Farris, Joseph Farris, Mark Farris, Mica Farris Royster, Lisa Farris Black and Matthew Farris, all of Ashland; 10 great-grandchildren, Raymie Harris, Mykal Farris, Cory Dean, Michael Duncan, Dakota Patterson, Joey Danielle Farris, Brandon Royster, Frankie Suzanne Farris, Ace Farris and Makenzie Farris; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Farris.
She was a 1938 graduate of Ashland High School and employed with Portsmouth Ohio Shoe Factory until WWII then made helmet liners for pilots.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today, July 31, 2009 at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Jimm Smedley.
Visitation will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. today at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
